Meet Carly and José Duarte, co-founders of Casera. While searching for their own holiday home in Cádiz, they found it impossible to choose just one location. The whitewashed pueblos blancos offered mountain charm, the coast promised untouched beaches, and Jerez de la Frontera held its own quiet magic. The wish to experience the best of the province as a second home became the spark that started Casera.

A Cádiz native, José has spent the past 15 years identifying, restoring, and developing distinctive homes across the province. In that time, he has built a trusted network of local agents, architects, builders, and artisans whose relationships now form the foundation of every Casera home. As a certified real estate valuation expert through Spain’s Professional Association of Real Estate Appraisers (APTI), he brings a deep understanding of the local market and an eye for properties with potential. His earlier career, spanning service in the Spanish Army’s Royal Guard and Special Operations as well as work in software development and cyber intelligence, reflects the discipline, precision, and technical insight he now applies to Casera’s operations and Co-Owner platform.

Carly moved to Spain from New York City after a 15-year career in interior design and luxury furnishings that included serving as Design Director for one of Manhattan’s leading architectural firms, co-founding her own design studio, and directing sales for a European luxury furniture brand. She brings extensive expertise in high-end design and an enduring appreciation for authentic Spanish materials and craftsmanship.

Together, Carly and José lead Casera – combining local real estate insight with international design expertise to create an effortless path to home ownership in Southern Spain.
